Category Manager - Home Essentials (9 Month Contract)

About the Role

Are you interested in leading a complex and rewarding portfolio which will see you working with some of our largest suppliers? 

We currently have a role available within our Home Essentials team which will see you focussing on improving and enhancing our customers' perceptions of our value, quality, and range, whilst managing all aspects of Product, Price, Promotions, Placement and Own Brand penetration.

 
What are we looking for?

Working collaboratively across many different teams within the business, we’re looking for a Category Manager who can coach, lead and develop their team as well as deliver targets on sales growth, profitability and market share.

What you’ll do: 

  • Lead the overall customer and business strategy for the portfolio with full P&L category accountability. 
  • Develop successful category plans, determining both local and overseas product trends and converting these into sales. 
  • Develop and implement the category strategy, with respect to price, profitability, range & NPD.
  • Take accountability for the fiscal performance of the category including forecasting, budgets and overall performance to KPI’s and expectations.
  • Develop and manage strong supplier relationships with a varied and diverse supplier base.

    To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following qualities, skills and experience:

  • Success in developing and executing a clear customer focused Category Plan that is aligned to the overarching divisional strategy and based on sound commercial insights / data
  • A strong background and demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence with cross functional and external stakeholders at all levels across the business
  • The ability to become an industry expert in the field of responsibility within Australia
  • A passion for product and product development and at the forefront of innovation and continuous improvement
  • A reputation as an outstanding leader, influencer and deliverer of exceptional results
  • Ability to coach and develop a high performing category team and develop a culture where the customer is the focus and at the centre of all decisions made.
