We seek

an experienced tradesperson to fill the role of Heavy Equipment Technician.

This permanent and full time position is based at the Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. The mine is fully permitted and began production in fall 2017.

Our Heavy Equipment Technician will join a skilled Mobile Maintenance Team. Reporting to the Supervisor Mobile Maintenance, your role will be responsible for the regular maintenance and repair to all mining equipment including; on and off-highway trucks, excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, light plants, water pumps and light vehicles.

The ideal candidate will hold a Red Seal in Heavy Equipment and/or Bus and Truck repair preferably in a mining or industrial setting.

The Opportunity

  • Inspect and maintain equipment for proper performance and safety compliance
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components or systems
  • Maintain and analyze predictive maintenance data
  • Be a visible safety leader
  • Identify safety issues and encourage a site safe work culture with safety being top priority
  • Promote & foster Company goals & objectives with all maintenance activities
  • Apply all applicable regulations, codes and corporate/site standards to all maintenance activities

  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with HSEQ policies and procedures
  • Protect the interest of the company in all matters and take actions as required to satisfy such responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use a computer effectively – automated maintenance programs and Microsoft Office
