About This Opportunity
A unique and exciting opportunity exists for Principal Practice Educators to be appointed into a new dedicated interprofessional practice education team. The Principal Practice Educators will make a significant contribution to ensuring our students have excellent practice learning experiences. These roles will be responsible for facilitating students’ learning in practice, including practice-based learning in a variety of uni-professional and interprofessional learning environments, which may include simulation labs.
Practice Educators will support or provide direct supervision to students on placement and support assessment. They will contribute to preparing students for placement and evaluating placement experiences. Liaising with placement providers will be a key role and building relationships and capacity.
Principal Educators will also undertake placement administrative tasks, liasing with placement, visiting organisations to maintain and expand placement opportunities. As a member of the interprofessional team they will participate in and facilitate interprofessional learning and instruction for students. This role liaises with the Practice Education/ Instruction Manager, Course Coordinators, Program Leads, Clinical Academics, Student Administration, Technicians, and stakeholders to coordinate practice learning.

This position is located at any UQ campus. The role will require travel to practice sites where students undertake simulation and practice placement.

Our Ideal Candidate
You will be passionate about student learning in practice and contributing to educating the next generation of the nursing and midwifery workforce. You will possess a degree in either nursing, midwifery and/or social work with evidence of continuous professional development. You will be clinically current and possess excellent practice skills. You will also have the opportunity to leverage recent industry experience and knowledge of the health and social work sector to deliver current evidence-based approaches, guidance and supervision in the area of practical based education. You will have demonstrated ability to positively develop and manage strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders across a wide client base.
You will have recent supervisory skills of practice education students including but not limited to supervision, educational evaluation, instructing in a variety of learning environments (including simulation) and contributing towards assessment. You will have experience and sound skills in using software packages to support reporting, stakeholder management and program functions. You will have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate, communicate and report back to various stakeholders across the School, University and external providers. An understanding of the demands and opportunities within a complex and multidisciplinary practice and/or interprofessional teaching environment and previous experience managing and prioritising these tasks effectively is also essential.
It is a requirement of this position that you hold and maintain a full professional qualification that means you are eligible for registration as a nursing and/or midwife with AHPRA. For social work you must be eligible for registration for PACFA, ACA or the AASW.
It is a requirement of this position that prior to commencement that you hold and maintain a current blue card.
