Our Operation

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well-equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

About the Role

Reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer and part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be able to work autonomously in assessing and proposing designs with the best outcome to a broad range of stakeholders including Project, Production and Maintenance teams.

You will be part of a team which is called on to provide technical advice on a wide range of technical questions, fault rectification, and Management of Change.

Your expertise and input will be crucial in building a plant which is safe to operate, maintain, and provides a productive asset life.

More importantly, you should be able to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines and demonstrate the confidence to lead by example.

This role can be based in Adelaide (with some travel to site) or residential in Olympic Dam on a BHP approved roster.

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with significant experience, preferably in mining, Oil & Gas or heavy industries
  • Experience with Safety in Design and safety instrumented systems (SIS)
  • Extensive Experience in High Voltage and Low Voltage Distribution Systems design
  • Extensive knowledge in Instrumentation and Control Systems design
  • Detailed Knowledge of development of scope of works, specifications, estimating, construction and commissioning methods
  • Experience with Electrical Standards review, including site standards and integration with Australian Standards
  • Be team focused, collaborating with a range of stakeholders to deliver the best outcome
